The city of Perpignan
Perpignan is located in the southeast of France, twenty miles from the Spanish boarder and less than two hours drive from Toulouse, Montpellier, and Barcelona, Spain. There is no other town in France, whatever its size, which does not claim to welcome all its guests whether they come as tourists, industrialists, business people or conference members, as does Perpignan. Here, the reality is so obvious that it is hardly worth embellishing it. In a twenty minute drive there are miles of sandy beaches, rocky creeks, sheltered seaside resorts or highly colorful fishing and commercial ports. To the west, there are the deep valleys and some of the most beautiful mountains of the Pyrenees, which with their proximity, form a harmonious backcloth for the city of Perpignan. Well equiped, from the view point of urban development, leisure and culture, Perpignan is at the meeting place of all the roads which lead to the discovery of the sea, the mountains, and also a culture environment of churchs, abbeys, castles and art treasures. The fruits of the centuries of history make the city a testimony to the richness and creative diversity of Mediterranean Civilisation.
